In July 2016, Elon Musk released a blog post on Tesla’s website titled “Master Plan, Part Deux”. In a few sentences, Tesla’s CEO laid the groundwork for a network of self-driven vehicles that would change the way we transport people forever.

In the last 6 years, Tesla engineers have been untiringly working on the set of technologies needed to accomplish Elon’s goals which is probably the number one priority of the company: autonomy.

Probably, the most viral comment from Elon Musk’s intervention on GigaTexas inauguration was about the dedicated vehicle for Robotaxi.

Since Tesla’s “Master Plan, Part Deux” was published, Elon has held that Tesla car owners will be able to make a profit from their vehicles if they lend them to the Tesla robotaxi network in order to use them in their ride-hailing service. Also that in cities where demand is higher, Tesla would roll out its own vehicles to make sure the service is always available.
