Tesla’s Gigafactory in Berlin just started production. This changes everything
After a delay of more than nine months, Tesla’s first factory in Europe has been granted for production and will start deliveries to customers this month.
When Tesla announced that they would build a factory in Europe, most customers thought that it would be easier to get their Teslas without having to import them from the USA.
This was already almost two years ago and a lot has happened since then.
Gigafactory Shanghai
In 2021, Tesla decided to export their vehicles to Europe from Shanghai instead of Fremont as it had been until then.
Shanghai’s incredible ramp allowed Tesla to spare some of its production to export to other countries in Europe and Asia and keep Fremont’s output for the American markets: the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Although Tesla is supply constrained, they are trying to distribute their production to meet demand and shortening delivery times as much as possible.
